A couple of weeks ago, I had an incredible getaway with my sweet man. We had an early anniversary celebration (17 years in April) and spent 4 nights and 5 days relaxing and enjoying one another. I just have to tell you about the place we stayed. We decided early on that we didn’t want to do anything extravagant. Just a time of simple relaxation.
We chose to go to Bryan, TX which is only about three hours from where we are.
The place we stayed in made the whole time SO worth it.
To start, the gal that owned the Bed and Breakfast we stayed at was an incredible Christian woman. So full of joy and love. All of her little extra touches were so meaningful. Scripture on the walls, crosses and angels as some of the decor, homemade snacks each day, incredible breakfasts prepared ahead of time so that we could enjoy it at our leisure.
The room itself was beyond incredible. Beyond words. Pictures don’t do it justice. A HUGE king size bed, an enormous walk-in spa shower, a six person hot tub IN THE ROOM, a little kitchenette, a sitting area with couch and fire place and a reading loft.
The place? Abigails Treehouse.
The pictures above honestly don’t do the place justice. You just had to be there.
During our stay most of the time we just spent relaxing in our gorgeous room. We did however visit a couple of neat places. The first was the Messina Hof Winery. We ate at the restaurant and oh my goodness… best. meal. ever. It was incredible. Expensive, but incredible! We had these incredible Fried Green Tomatoes – wow – as an appetizer. I’ve never tasted anythings so yummy! After our meal we were able to take the tour and had a fabulous tour guide. Along the way we got to meet personally with Paul Bonarrigo – what a neat guy!
We also indulged ourselves with a manicure and pedicure at the Galleria Day Spa. Yes, my husband, awesome man that he is, went along with it and had them done too. It was cute to watch him getting his hands all gussied up! (minus the nail polish of course!)
On one of our outings we spent the day at the Antique Rose Emporium. It was a beautiful day and so nice and relaxing. We also got all of my shopping done for some upcoming birthdays in my family!
Our time away was so wonderful. I LOVE spending time with my sweet man. It was just what we needed. The only downfall is that we came back to a houseful of sick kids! My sweet mother-in-law earned a few jewels in her crown that week, I do believe!
Top Ten Favorite Memories from that week:
1. The drive down – uninterrupted conversation
2. The shock of how incredible our room was when we opened the door – uh may zing!
3. The quiet of our room after we settled in.
4. Sleeping In
5. The meal at Messina Hof – it was, indeed, a small glimpse of heaven
6. The beautiful weather
7. No schedule
8. New friends that we made
9. Spending “quality” time with my sweet man
10. Coming home – as much as I loved, loved, loved our getaway, I was ready to see the sweet blessing we left at home

Hooray for a fantastic getaway! I love the Bryan area. In fact, I am not sure I realized you were a fellow Texan. The good thing about living here, you can stay in the same state and get a variety of scenery and such! HA! Glad you had such a great time.

Thanks Chelle – and yup I am in the DFW area, so it wasn’t too far – about three hours.
