Friends.
We all have them.
They come and go through our life, at different times, during different circumstances.
Many times, friends come in for seasons and then the season changes and God may bring in others to love us and be a blessing in our lives.
Then there are those very few friends that come in to our lives, stake their claim in our hearts and are there through thick and thin; whatever life brings.
They are there when we walk through good times and hard times.
They are there help pick us up when we stumble and fall.
An angry word doesn’t deter them.
A mistake, even a big one, doesn’t scare them off.
They know how to look past the flesh and see the true heart.
They have learned to work out even what seems to be the unworkable.
They are as close, if not closer, than family.
It’s not an easy thing to be this type of friend. It’s too hard for some; too much work for others.I have realized that this type of friendship is tough. It’s the kind of real love and friendship that Christ demonstrated; and as I strive to put on the fullness of Christ, it is the kind of real friend that I want to be.
Today, I am remembering a real friend, Laura, that now sits at the feet of Jesus. She was an inspiration and the truest example of a friend that loves at all times.
What does a real friend look like to you?

Thanks Jami, yes… those friendships are hard to come by, so when they do we should hold on and cherish them for ALL they are worth.
There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (or sister) Guess who he is?
Give up? It is Jesus!

Chelsey,
Laura was one of dearest friends for many years. I was in 8th grade, she was a junior in high school. She took me in and we “merged”. I loved her like family. We sang old songs together, talked about boys, she introduced me to Macaroni and cheese with tuna, and just spent every waking moment together.I moved away from Texas and kept in touch with her for many years. She cried with me during struggles, divorce and children. Then about 7 years ago I let my life get too busy to keep in touch. I always thought about “reconnecting” when things slowed down. Only last night I finally really “searched” for her. My heart broke as I saw she is gone. I had no idea. How could I have lost such a special person, and how could I have not kept in touch with her? Then my heart felt joy for her, as she is with the God she loved so much. Thank you for posting such beautiful words about such a beautiful friend.
Michele, what a small world. I am glad you found her through me. She was… well there are just no words to truly describe the depth of her friendship and what she meant to me. I miss her EVERY. DAY. Every life she touch, she blessed in some way.
