Nursery Name Art

Recently, the daughter of my best friend (who is now with Jesus), had her first baby (whom I claim as my grand-niece). They named her Poema Joy. Poema is a derrivative of the Greek Word Poiema meaning “created work”. Scholars say a more accurate translation would be “expertly or artfully crafted work”. It’s the same word that’s translated as “workmanship” in Ephesians 2:20. Isn’t it beautiful? And so unique. And it suits this precious sweet little girl.

I wanted to give something to Ashley that had Poema’s name on it, but with such a unique name I knew it would need to either be special ordered or hand-made. I chose the latter! This is what I came up with:

I thought it turned out great and had such a wonderful time putting it together. I just used scrap paper and stickers I had from all my years of scrap-booking. I used velum paper and ribbon to put the scripture on and stickers with a bulky backing to make them stand out a bit and give a bit of dimension to the artwork.

It’s a fun and easy way to make a beautiful gift perfect for the nursery. You could even change it up a bit and make a gift for a couple for their wedding shower using first or even last name!

Do you have a favorite gift you like to give for a new mommy?

    Beautiful.

I have a certain small floppy stuffed washable animal that I give. My own grandson can not go to sleep without it.

What a thoughtful gift idea! And I love that new little one’s name. I enjoy knitting, so I often have lots of fun picking out soft yarns and knitting blankets for new babies.

Thanks for sharing the idea. My daughters love to make home-crafted gifts and this one will have to be added to our idea list.
