Commands of Christ :: Day 14 {Choose the Narrow Way}

This is the 14th post in the series. To read the introduction and for all the posts, click HERE.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14

The road to Christ is NOT always an easy one. Chosing to live by the Truth and convictions that the Lord has given you is a hard thing to do, not only in terms of the “world”, but unfortunately sometimes even within our own Christian culture. unfortunately so many Christians and even Churches have been so influenced by the world, that it is getting harder and harder to tell the difference.

As parents it is our job to help lead our children down the right road. Sometimes this can be down right hard, and even heartbreaking! Recently, we had some tough decisions that we had to make with our older boys that just broke my heart. But, we knew that it was the right decision for now and that by doing so held to the convictions and Biblical standards that the Lord has shown us.

Heart questions to ponder:

In what current situations must I go against the natural inclinations of myself and others?
Do I evaluate each decision based on God’s way, and I am teaching my children to do the same?
Do I make God’s Word – not the opinions of myself or others – my standard?
Am I prepared to endure trials of “narrow way”?
What blessings have come when I’ve chosen God’s way… and have I shared these with my children?
What sorrow have I experienced as a result of not choosing the narrow way?

    Oh Chelsey, I know this feeling all too well. I have had to limit Noah’s participation in several of the youth activities in our church over the years and it can be so hard on so many levels. It makes it hard for him as he ends up on the “outside” of the social group and it makes it hard for me because it makes me look like Mrs. Judge-y McJudge-erson. ugh. Praying for you and your boys♥

    It truly is so very important to choose God’s way over our own or the world’s. It isn’t easy sometimes, but we must do it so that our children know how to do it as well! Thank you for sharing! We’re neighbors at The Better Mom today ;) Blessings! simplyhelpinghim.com
